The best preparation for elementary school
Toddlers (ages 2-4) are incredibly inquisitive, curious, and have a rich imagination. This makes it easy for them to try new things and to learn like crazy. Our activities at the toddler preschool are perfectly suited to the development and perception of your child. They want to do everything themselves. In a playful manner, they go on a voyage of discovery together with their peers at our toddler mornings.

Before School Education
At the toddler preschool (formerly known as playgroup), your child plays with us one, or more, half days a week. While playing we work on the development of your child. We do this with Preschool Education (VE), which means that all toddlers at our day care learn the Dutch language in a playful manner. They’ll be able to start elementary school without language deficiency. For toddlers with a developmental lead, we offer the Smart Cookie Program (in Dutch: Pientere peuters-programma). With the guidance of our specialists, these toddlers will also hop on down to the nursery.
Your toddler participates in fun and educational activities from the development program called Piramide. Specially developed for children aged 2 to 4, this program focuses on language, movement, and social interaction. Besides fun indoor activities, we also make sure to go outside every day, even when the weather isn’t great. Running around, clambering, digging in the sandbox, playing in the greenery. Playing outside is good for your child’s motoric, cognitive, social, and mental development.
Exercising is an important part of the day-to-day routine in our care groups. Every morning and every afternoon, for example, we play outside for at least half an hour. Toddlers can also participate in sports activities we organize through the Young Sport Heroes program: a sports program specially developed for childcare.
We work with a fixed hourly rate in child care. Everything is included in the hourly rate for toddler preschool: diapers, food, drinks, and outings.
You do not have to pay the full cost of the care yourself. If your child attends toddler preschool with us, you can apply for child-care benefits from the Dutch tax authorities. Whether you will receive child-care benefits and, if so, how much, depends on your (joint) income.
Are you not entitled to child-care benefit because you or your partner do not work? The Municipality of Haarlemmermeer subsidizes preschool care for parents who are not entitled to child-care benefits. The municipality charges an income-related parental contribution. You must be able to prove that you are not entitled to child-care benefits.
As of January 1st, 2020, you are entitled to 8 hours of toddler preschool per week (i.e. 2 mornings of 4 hours). If you are also entitled to Preschool Education, your child can attend preschool for 16 hours a week with the subsidy. You can read more about this on the website of the Municipality of Haarlemmermeer.
